Hospitality

Background

The hospitality industry not only produces large amounts of waste and carbon dioxide, which contribute to climate change but also consumes a lot of energy and water.

Water is a fundamental resource in many hotel operations, such as heating and cooling, F&B, irrigation, spas and pools, and in guest rooms. In some locations, the average hotel guest uses eight times more water than the local community.

With single-use plastics making up roughly half of annual plastic production, we have focussed on eliminating plastic-bottled water in guest rooms via our well-received onsite solutions.

There is also a growing demand for solutions to address the issue of food waste, which can be substanial on a day-to-day basis, with the amount increasing dramatically during religious holidays (eg Ramadan).

The industry impacts biodiversity both directly (e.g. through land and resource use and pollution) and indirectly (e.g. through generating greenhouse gases, and actions in the supply chain). TIGRIS' operating model and modular-nature of its solutions allows end clients within the hospitality industry to address these issues in a relatively short timeframe, and to get on with business.

Case Study

The Problem

  • Reduce / eliminate single-use plastic water bottle use.

  • Improve efficiency both from an operational and financial perspective

  • Meet industry-standards in sustainability for regulatory purposes

Our Solutions

TIGRIS has deployed water recycling solutions for its clients like LeMeridien and Marriott, who now have onsite production of Glass Bottled Water with the capacity to eliminate ~500,000 single-use plastic bottle waste per annum.
